Queensland Raceway Resurfaced

Queensland Raceway recently received a $1.2million resurface and California Superbike School Chief riding Coach Adam Raffe gave it the big thumbs up after sampling the upgrade first hand during our recent February schools.

“The new surface is excellent,” explained Adam. “It has an abundance of predictable grip; and the big bumps have been largely removed. It actually took some time getting my head around all the extra traction that is now available. I kept turning in expecting the level of grip offered by the old surface, but once I found myself mid turn I realised, ahhh bugger I could’ve gone quicker! I’m really looking forward to spending more time on the track because there’s more time to be found.”
CSS on an Indian Adventure

India was recently the host to a very special group of California Superbike School events. Each branch – America, Europe and Australasian – sent its Chief Riding Coaches and their Deputies to India to run a tailored program for local enthusiasts. The Australasian branch’s Adam Raffe and Lou Filis were in attendance as part of the coaching team during six days of schools, held at the Madras Motorsports Park. The event was promoted by local company Preethi.

“India was amazing. All six days sold out within four days of being released,” explained Adam. “The students were all so eager to make the most of their time with us, and we were very well looked after by the locals. It was also a great opportunity to get together with all our international counterparts and coordinate some really exciting improvements for the future.”

A video of the six day event, produced by Preethi, is available online. Click here to see the video.
Raffe promoted to Master (Yoda)

Adam Raffe, the Chief Riding Coach for the Australasian branch of the California Superbike School, has further developed his coaching skills to become one of only six California Superbike School Master Riding Coaches worldwide.

Together with Steve Brouggy the Australasian branch of the California Superbike School now boasts two Master Riding Coaches.

Adam 'Master Yoda' Raffe

The Master sheet is the final tier in the CSS coach training program and requires a significant commitment from a Chief Riding Coach to obtain the title.

“It’s taken me four years to complete – I consider it my equivalent of a university degree,” beamed Adam. “For me it is probably the thing I’m proudest of. I’m just really grateful that the coach training program exists the way it does, and that I’ve had the opportunity to sink my teeth into it.

“It’s hard! It’s challenged me on so many levels, and its effect has permeated into my life away from the racetrack too. It’s been as much a study of humans and life and me, as it has of riding a motorcycle. I never expected it would be that way when I first got involved, but I’m really happy it’s played out that way.
The program is testament to how intense and professional the California Superbike School Coach training program is, ensuring the highest level of coaching for all CSS students.
